Ferry's Tale of Pig Island

ROLE

Illustrator

DESCRIPTION

Ferry’s Tale of Pig Island is an enchanted story of a young boy who finds comfort, support, and friendship, from a lovely pig named Sinker. This story was inspired by treasured family members and real experiences from the author’s life.

I worked as illustrator on the project together with the author Kendrick Delany and the book's designer and producer Jessica Glasmacher, trying to bring to bring this personal story of the author to life for a wide audience.

Finding Ferry and Sinker

One of the biggest challenges of designing the world for this book, was how to design the boy character and the pig in a expressive and likeable way.

Designing the Bahamas

Another great character of the book is the setting: the Bahamas.  I did a lot of visual research to get as close as possible to the feel of the sunlight hitting the water, the vibrant colours, the vegetation found around.
